About Ivy Daydreams

For years and years I've collected my thoughts in a series of notebook pages, notes app poems, and Google Documents. My sophomore year of college I decided fuck it. I am going to be insufferable and create my own website dedicated to my writing. The page was originally "mediocre words from the heart," but like most ideas that come to us at 19, I got cringed out by it. So, in honor of the artist who inspired me to start writing, the new name is Ivy Daydreams. Frank Ocean, if you know me, is my favorite of all time. Miss you. Ivy was the first song I discovered by him in 7th grade, I do not know who I could possibly associate with that song as an awkward 13-year-old, but it stuck with me through teenage years and now into adulthood (omfg). I am constantly struck by his ability to melt words and rhythms together and illicit intense feelings from his songwriting.

This is a space where I try not judge myself (besides the old website name ig). In order for writing to be authentic...you must... be authentic. So, even if these pieces just float into the never-ending internet abyss, that's fine with me. Something about just posting some of my work, which is vulnerable and scary, is rewarding--even if no one sees it.

Welcome to my space!

Now and then you miss it, sounds make you cry. Some night you dance with tears in your eyes."
